Final Blog Post!

Hey everyone!

This is our final blog post! Bella and I had the extension, however, we did not need it. We feel very blessed to have this opportunity! We are so happy to see our idea of sharing the idea of gratfeulness through books come alive! We worked very hard to make this come a reality! Special shoutout to Mrs. Jaynes and Linda Ragsdale for helping and guiding us on this journey. Not only the Yvie, Bella's cousin whom we read to, learn more about being grateful, but we did as well! While coming up with a story line for our book, Bella and I had many frat conversations about being grateful because you can be grateful for many ways. We are very grateful for this opportunity! And thank you to everyone for reading and enjoying our blog! :)

Books for Blessings

Hey everyone!

This week was great for Books for Blessings! On Thursday, we read the book we wrote called, Billy's Best Friend. It is a book about a boy named Billy who has a pet turtle named Tommy. However, Billy gets tired of Tommy and goes on a search for a brand new pet. He meets many other animals and asks them to be his pet, but they all say no because they can't live in a home, they all belong somewhere else. All of a sudden, Billy realizes Tommy is meant to be in his life and is very grateful for him. We then interviewed Bella's cousin, Yvie, who is in second grade. She loved the book! We are pretty much done with the project! We took the extension to finish up some lose ends! Below is our interview with Yvie.

Interview with Yvie (Yvonne) Hamilton

What are you most thankful for?
Yvie is most thankful for her family.

What was the point of the story?
The point of the story was that he knew he wanted a new pet, but everyone he asked said no.

Have you ever wanted something you couldn't have? Or do you believe that you are always pretty thankful for what you have?
Sometimes you are grateful for things, but you have to experience big events to understand why you should be thankful.

After reading the book, what are you most thankful for?
Yvie is most thankful for her fish. (Didn't appreciate him as much before)

We will see y'all next week with our last Books for Blessings blog post!

Almost Done!

Hey Guys!
Paige and I are back again with another blog! It is crazy to think that we are so close to being finished with our Genius Hour Project. It has been a really long, crazy, and stressful ride, but every minute of it was worth it for our final product. We were very thankful for the opportunity to teach a bunch of kids and maybe even a bunch of adults about how important it is to be thankful for the things we don’t think about. This week, Paige and I were able to start our books. And we are very excited to be able to finish and then show it to people. As soon as we finish our two books, we are going to show them to my cousins and evaluate how they react towards them. We are really hoping that we will be able to make a difference. And this upcoming week is going to be very hectic for both Paige and I because we have to finish this project and I will be leaving Friday for a mission trip to Nicaragua. I am really hoping that I am going to be able to make a difference while I am out there. Paige will be writing to you guys next week in light of my absence and we will have had finished out project. See you guys next week!

Weekly Update!

Hey Guys! We are back again with ANOTHER blog post! This week we only had three days and things have been a little hectic this week. Paige and I have been really wanting to get some more work done, but this week we have both been pretty busy. After school I always have track practice and Paige has cheer practice and so it is very hard to meet up after school. However, we have a nice weekend to hopefully get everything back to order. So that means that this week, Paige and I were not very successful in getting work done for our Genius Hour project. Next week we both plan to continue with our writing and hoping to finish by the end of the week seeing as our time is running out. Then after that, we are going to read them to my cousins and then we are going to test and see how effective they were. So with our project coming to a close in two weeks, we were very thankful to have had this opportunity to work on a project like this. Along with those two items are on our agenda we also need to contact our mentor, Linda Ragsdale, to update her on our progress and invite her to our TED talk.  This whole project has been very eye opening and we are really hoping that we are going to be able to make a difference on the lives of the people around us.
See you guys again next week!

Genius Hour

Hello everyone!

Here we are again with another blog post. Unfortunately, we did not get where we wanted to this week with our books for Books for Blessings. This week and weekend were very busy for both of us. Our goal was to officially start writing our children's books. The first book being about health and the second book being about materialistic possessions, and being thankful for both. This week will be our week to finally start on our books. Our time is becoming very limited and we must make these books easy to understand and enjoyable for the kids! We have many great ideas and are very excited and determined to get these books written! Also, we will contact Linda Ragsdsle, CEO of Peace Dragon, and run our ideas by her and have her help us write the books! That's it for this post! Hopefully our best post will be full of exciting news and new details!

This Weeks Progress!

Hello everyone!

We are back with another blog! Our progress has been a little slow lately, but we are very determined  to get back on track and will be picking up the pace shortly! However, we have officially decided what our children's books will be about! The first book will be about health. Our health is something we take for granted and we would like to share with the kids that not everyone is as lucky as they are, and are struggling. The second book will be about materialistic possessions. With this book, we will be showing the kids why and how to be grateful for the things they have, because some people are not as lucky. We are very excited and pleased with our book selections and can not wait to get stared writing! We are setting a goal to start writing next week. We will keep you posted and are very excited for what is to come!

Our First Vlog

Hey Guys!
This past week Paige and I have been brainstorming on our ideas for our books. We already know the story line that we are going to tell, however, we are focusing more on how exactly we are going to tell the story. We have a few ideas down so far and are really excited to start learning. Another thing we have accomplished this week was making our very first vlog. What the basis of the blog was about was explain what our project was about and where our inspirations came from. Along with that we also had to tell how our research has been going. This is going to make our project more interesting with the vlog because our viewers can now see more about how much we care about this project. Next week what we hope to accomplish is starting our writing stage. We are hoping that we can start writing and then shortly after finishing we can order our books and be able to share our books with the group of students we have chosen at the lower school. Also another thing we have to get done is contacting our mentor and telling her more about our project and how our progress has been going. We are very excited to get every going and soon wrapping this up. We will continue to keep everyone posted.
